Configure a tag

After you have selected the tags to be included in a tour, you need to configure them for data collection.

  1. If barcode scanning is required during data collection, enter a barcode. You can also have barcodes generated automatically based on the tag name. See Review all barcodes in a tour.

  2. Optional. Create a comment tag for the tag. Note that tag comments entered during a tour run are saved as a PI Annotation by default.

  3. To assign the tag to a tag group (if not already assigned), click Set beside the Tag Group field.

    1. In the Tag Group Editor window, select the group you want the tag to be associated with.

    2. Click OK.

    The group name is displayed in the Tag Group field. To change the tag to another group, click Clear and repeat these steps.

  4. To set up scheduling for a tag (if not already configured at the tour/ tag group level, or if you want to override a tour or a tag group clock collection schedule for a specific tag), click Set beside the Collection Scheduling field. See Define data collection scheduling.

  5. To provide instructions to the operator, enter text in the Operator Instructions field. Instructions can include a hyperlink to a file, a web site, or an FTP site. For more information, see Operator instructions.

  6. Click the Tag Entry Options tab and set up a format for tag entry, as well as any conditions for data collection. See Tag Entry Options tab.

  7. Click the Data Validation tab and set up limits and trigger actions for the tag. See Data validation.

  8. Repeat these steps for each tag in the tour. Use the navigation icons in the toolbar or click on tags in the Tag List View pane.

  9. To save the tour, click .

  10. To exit the Tour Configuration window, click .
