Add tags to a group

Add tags to a group to create an effective tree hierarchy. Typically, the first tag in a tag group represents the status of the equipment. This can be a digital state, such as On/Off, Running/Out of service.

  1. Select a group from the Tree View tab in the Tag List View pane.

    The Tag Group Configuration tab is displayed in the Tour Configuration window.

  2. Choose one of the following methods:

    Add tags if no tags have been previously selected for the tour

    1. In the Tree View tab, click , or right-click and select Add new PI tags.

    2. In the Tag Search window, use standard Windows selection methods to select the tags.

      • Ctrl + Click: Selects multiple individual tags

      • Shift + Click: Selects a consecutive group of tags

    3. Click OK to add the tags to the selected group.

    Note: If you have not selected a group, the tags are added to the root level of the Tree View.

    Add tags if tags have already been selected for the tour, for example after using the PIML Tour Creation Wizard

    1. In the Tree View tab, select a tag at the root level and drag it down the tree until an underline is displayed below the group you want it to be associated with.

    2. Drop the tag. The group expands to show that the tag you dragged has been moved to the bottom of the list of tags already in the group.

    3. Repeat until you have moved all the tags at the root level into groups.

    Note: You can also move tags into groups with the Reorder tags function. See Reorder tags and tag groups.
