You can perform a silent installation for PI Manual Logger PC and PI Manual Logger Web.
Note: PI Manual Logger Windows Services is not installed by default. Refer to Configuration parameters for silent PI Manual Logger PC client installation.
-
Run the PIML Bundle (PI Manual Logger_2014.exe or PI Manual Logger Web_2017 R2_.exe installation kits), extract the files to a specific directory, and make a note of the Extraction path.
-
Click OK.
-
Once the extraction is complete and a window is displayed listing the different modules, click Cancel.
-
Navigate to the extraction directory and then the appropriate subfolder, as noted in the above sample windows (PIML_3.0.0.558 and PIMLWeb_3.4.0.387 respectively).
-
Open Silent.ini in a text editor.
-
Edit the file according to the configuration required. For more information, refer to Configuration parameters for silent PI Manual Logger PC client installation and Configuration parameters for silent PI Manual Logger Web installation.
For PI Manual Logger Web, for example, you may need to change Module 13 under [COMMANDLINE].
Default values:
13 = /qn REBOOT=Suppress ALLUSERS=1 WEBSITE="Default Web Site" FDSQLDBSERVER=.\ FDSQLDBNAME=PimlWindows FDSQLDBVALIDATE=1 ADDLOCAL=ALL
After changes:
13 = /qn REBOOT=Suppress ALLUSERS=1 WEBSITE="Company Website Name" FDSQLDBSERVER=MachineName FDSQLDBNAME=DatabaseName FDSQLDBVALIDATE=1 ADDLOCAL=ALL
For PI Manual Logger Web, also ensure the NUM setting under [NUMSETUPMODULES] is set to 14.
[NUMSETUPMODULES]
NUM = 14Otherwise, the silent install will not install PI Manual Logger Web.
-
Save and close Silent.ini.
-
Copy Setup.ini to Setup_Original.ini.
-
Copy or rename Silent.ini to Setup.ini.
-
Run Setup.exe to complete the silent installation.
You may need to reboot if any OSIsoft Windows Services are running before the installation, for example during an upgrade of PI SDK or AF SDK.
