Prerequisites for PI Manual Logger PC Client installation

Verify that your systems meet the following requirements before you install the PI Manual Logger PC Client.

System software

Installation of an OSIsoft product relies on the presence of operating system components such as the Microsoft .NET Framework. OSIsoft product setup kits check for needed prerequisite software during installation. If not found, the installation stops and the user is prompted to install prerequisites. OSIsoft prerequisite setup kits are available for these target operating system environments:

• Windows Vista and later (32-bit)

• Windows Vista and later (64-bit)

To install the prerequisites needed for your operating system, run the OSIsoft Prerequisites Kit, available from the AVEVA Customer Portal Products page.

Note: PI Manual Logger does not support the Itanium (ARM-based) CPU.

PC Client software

PI Manual Logger PC Client has the following software requirements:

• One of the following Windows operating systems.

  • Windows Vista SP 2 or later

  • Windows Server 2008 SP2 or later

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 or later

  • Windows 7

  • Windows 8 (no ARM)

  • Windows 10

  • Windows Server 2012

  • Windows Server 2016

    Note: Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the operating systems are supported. On 64-bit operating systems, PI Manual Logger runs as a 32-bit application.

• PI SDK 1.4.2.445 or higher

• Minimum server software requirements:

  • PI Data Archive version 3.4.380 or higher

  • Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.5 or higher, with ASP.NET 2.0 for wireless data transfer from a Windows Mobile device through Web Services support

    Note: You can install PI Manual Logger Web Services on a separate server from where PI Manual Logger PC Client or PI Data Archive is located.

SQL Server

For PI Manual Logger PC, one of the following Microsoft SQL Server versions must be available on a server, or optionally installed on the client. If the MobilePC feature in PI Manual Logger PC is being used, SQL Express must be installed on the client PC, in addition to a SQL Server edition being installed on a server.

Note: If you decide to use SQL Express, you need to install SQL Management Studio Express on the client as well.

Note: PI Manual Logger does not support Microsoft SQL Server failover.
