PI Manual Logger

Tour configuration management

In PI Manual Logger, you use a tour to assemble a set of PI tags for which manual data collection is required. For each tour, a member of the Admin User Group (as defined in Global Options > Security Settings) needs to configure the expected outcomes for the tour, organize the tags into logical groups, and then specify when the data should be collected and under what conditions. You can use Conditional Manual Data Entry (CMDE) formulas to determine both tag and tag group schedules, as well as whether conditions are valid for data to be collected.

Tour setup

Configuration of a tour comprises:

Tour security

Assign a Full Access Group that has administrative privileges for the tour, and a Data Entry Group whose members are authorized to collect the tour data.

Tour options

Assign settings or rules that determine how PI Manual Logger behaves as data is being collected. You can specify general rules for the tour, as well as for how timestamps, limit violations, and barcodes are treated.

Tour options

Tour comment tag and tour schedule

Optionally, assign a tour comment PI String tag and a tour collection schedule. Scheduling is based on clock scheduling only.

Tour digital states

Optionally, select system digital states to be associated with the tour.

Associate tour digital states with a tour

Tag group setup

Configuration of a tag group comprises:

Tag group assignment

Assign tags to specific groups to facilitate data collection.

Add tags to a group

Tag group configuration

Optionally, assign a tag group barcode, a tag group comment PI String tag, and a tag group collection schedule. Scheduling is based on clock scheduling or on CMDE formulas.

Tag setup

Configuration of a tag comprises:

Tag configuration

Search for and select a tag, and then optionally, assign a tag barcode, a PI String comment tag, a collection schedule, and operator instructions. Scheduling is based on clock scheduling.

Tag entry options

Assign a format to facilitate data entry and optionally use CMDE formulas that determine whether a tag needs to be collected during a tour run.

Limit validation

Set limits and trigger actions.

Predefined comment setup

In addition to completing the tour, tag group, and tag configuration tasks listed above, you should create predefined comment templates so that data collectors can conveniently select a comment during data entry. For more information, see Predefined comment templates.
