Create a comment tag

• All comment tag strings must be created in PI Data Archive prior to using them in PI Manual Logger.

• The Write comments to both annotation and comment tag (if configured) tour option must be enabled if you want comments to be saved as both comment tags and PI annotations.

You can create a comment tag for a tour, a tag group, and a tag.

1. Choose one of the following actions:

   • For a Tag: On the Tag Configuration tab, click Set beside the Comment Tag field. Click Yes at the confirmation prompt.

   • For a Tag Group: On the Tag Group Configuration tab, click Set beside the Comment Tag field.

   • For a Tour: In the Tour Info pane, click Set beside the Tour Comment Tag field.

2. In the Tag Search window, enter search criteria for the String tag to store the comment. Select String from the Point Type drop-down list.

3. Click Search.

4. From the search result list, select the tag to store the comment.

5. Click OK.

   The tag you selected is displayed in the respective Comment Tag field.
