Install PI Manual Logger MobilePC (disconnected mode)

Follow these instructions to install MobilePC with the same database schema as the Central SQL Server database.

• A full implementation of Manual Logger PC must already be installed and configured.

• The Central SQL Server database must already be installed and configured, as described in Installation of PI Manual Logger PC Client.

1. Install SQL Server Express and SQL Server Management Studio Express on the mobile PC.

2. Run the PI Manual Logger PC Client installation on the laptop.

   1. Follow the same prerequisites as described in Prerequisites for PI Manual Logger PC Client installation.

   2. You need only install Database Files and Client Application.

3. Copy the PIMLWindowsMobilePC SQL Server database template files (PIMLWindowsMobilePC.mdf and PIMLWindowsMobilePC_Log.ldf) located in the PIPC\PIMLWindows\Data folder to another folder on the mobile PC, for example a folder named C:\PIMLData. The files must be writable and the folder must be accessible by the SQL Server account, as described in SQL Server configuration.

   Note: The same template file can be used for SQL 2016 Express, 2014 Express, 2012 Express, SQL 2008 Express or SQL 2005 Express.

4. Open the SQL Server Management Studio Express and attach the database, as described in Attach template files for SQL Server.

5. Configure the users, as described in Add a user account to PIMLWindows database.

6. As Administrator, run PIML Configuration Tools and set up a MobilePC database connection for the local instance of SQL Server, as described in Configure SQL Server connection information.
