The PI Manual Logger user database comprises a list of users and user groups. Each user can belong to multiple user groups. One user group is designated as the administrative user group. Users who belong to this user group have full access to all PI Manual Logger features.

Default user

When you first install and configure PI Manual Logger, one user is already defined, with the user name piml and password piml. You can change the password after installation.

Default user group

By default, the user piml belongs to the PIMLADMINS administrative user group and has full access rights to all PI Manual Logger features. You can change the default designated administrative group by selecting Tools > Global Options > Security Settings and then changing the Admin User Group field to a user group other than PIMLADMINS.

Single-user mode

A Windows Mobile device can be set up for a single user and thereby bypass the Login window on the device. For more details, refer to Configure mobile device settings.

Global Options Message Logging tab

PI Manual Logger can be set up to record all changes made to the user database in message logs. The following options need to be enabled in the Tools > Global Options > Message Logging tab.

  • Log user group membership changes

  • Log tour permission group changes

  • Log user password change events

  • Log Admin user group changes
