Application server settings for improving performance

The following server settings may improve performance for PI Manual Logger Web, especially when using larger data sets. Please consult Microsoft documentation for more information on tuning IIS, such as increasing the amount of threads per processor limit.

  1. Install performance roles for IIS:

    1. Open Microsoft Server Manager and navigate to the area to add roles to your server. Refer to Microsoft documentation for your operating system version.

    2. In the Web Server (IIS) section, navigate to the Performance section.

    3. Select Static Content Compression.

    4. Select Dynamic Content Compression. Please refer to Microsoft documentation to learn more about how enabling Dynamic Content Compression may affect processor utilization.

    5. Complete the wizard to install these roles.

  2. Add dynamic compression file types.

    1. Open IIS Manager.

    2. Select the Server and double click Configuration Editor.

    3. Navigate to the system.webServer/httpCompression section.

    4. Select the dynamicTypes row and click to view the mimeTypes.

    5. Add application/json type and set the enabled flag to True.

  3. Increase RAM on your server hardware.

    A minimum of 8GB is recommended.
