If you plan to install SQL Server Express on a computer that is different from the workstation where PI Manual Logger is installed, additional configuration may be required to allow remote PCs to connect to the SQL Server.

  1. Click Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server <VersionNumber> > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Configuration Manager.

  2. Expand SQL Server Network Configuration.

  3. Expand Protocols and enable the appropriate protocol to get your SQL Server to allow remote connections on the network. You will likely just need to choose TCP/IP.

  4. Restart the SQL services to complete the configuration from within SQL Server Configuration Manager by selecting the SQL Server Services item.

  5. Verify that the SQL Server Browser service is running.
