Add server roles and features

AVEVA PI Vision can automatically configure required roles and features during installation. If that's your preference, proceed to the next section. Alternatively, you can manually install server roles, features, and role services on the application server before installation. For more information, see the Microsoft article Roles, Role Services, and Features.

Manually install server roles, features and role services

  1. In Microsoft Server Manager, select Add roles and features to open the wizard and choose Role-based or feature-based installation as the installation type.

  2. On the Select server roles page of the wizard, select the Web Server role.

  3. On the Select features page, select the following required server features:

    • Windows Process Activation Service (Process Model, Configuration APIs)

  4. On the Select role services page for Web Server Role (IIS), select at least the required role services listed below:

    • IIS Management Console (Not applicable for the Server Core minimal installation option)

  5. On the Confirmation page, select Install.
