Use the Configure Table pane to customize the table's columns and rows.
Note: The rows that appear on the table symbol are the result of the data items (i.e., the PI AF attributes and/or PI points) that you add to the table from the Assets pane; each data item that you add to the table has its own row. The table's columns provide data about each data item, such as the name, value, description, etc. These summary data values take their intervals from the display's time range as defined in the timebar.
-
Right-click the table and select Configure Table to open the Configure Table pane.
-
Under Columns, select a column to access the check boxes that control that column. Select the Show Column to include the column or clear it to exclude the column. The Show Column check box is selected for columns shown in bold. You can select one or more columns in the list then choose an Alignment option to set if text is aligned left, center, or right within the column cells. For certain columns, you can also select Wrap Text to display text in the column on multiple lines or clear it to keep the text on one line. The Wrap Text check box is available only for Path, Name, Description, Value, Units, and Time. When Wrap Text is not selected, values in the column are truncated if they do not fit within the column's width.
If you want to customize how text is aligned within column cells, select the desired column(s) in the Columns list then select an Alignment option to align text either left, center, or right.
The columns available in a table are:
-
Path
Full path of the data item. For PI points (tags), this is the path to the Data Archive server. For PI AF assets and attributes the path is the entire PI AF path up until the last asset-attribute pair.
-
Name
Name of the data item (for example, the PI points or asset-attribute pair).
-
Description
Description as defined in the descriptor property for PI points or the description attribute for PI AF data.
-
Value
Reading or snapshot obtained at the specified end time of the timebar. It is shown as a number or a digital-state string.
-
Units
Unit of measure for the data item.
-
Time
timestamp when the value was last updated.
-
Trend
Graphic that provides a quick way to see how a data item is trending. For example, if an operator notices that the volume of a sparkline is escalating rapidly, it may be an indication that there might be a problem that requires further analysis.
-
Target
Aimed-for measurement value to which you can compare your attribute's value.
Note: To see the target, a target must be defined when setting the limit attribute traits in PI System Explorer. For more information, see the PI Server topic Attribute traits.
-
Target Indicator
Arrow that indicates if your attribute is over or under the target value.
-
Target % Δ
Differential between the attribute value and the target value as a percentage.
-
Target Δ
Differential between the attribute value and the target value.
-
Average
Average value of the data item using the display range as the interval.
-
Minimum
Minimum value of the data item using the display range as the interval.
-
Maximum
Maximum value of the data item using the display range as the interval.
-
StdDev
Standard deviation of values on the display range.
-
Range
Difference between a data item's maximum and minimum values.
-
PStDev
Population standard deviation of values on the display range.
Note: To change the order of columns, you can directly move them in the table.
-
-
Under Numbers, select the display format of numbers.
Format
Description
Database
Show numbers in a format that depends on the data item:
-
For PI points or PI AF attributes with a PI point data reference, the format depends on the value of the point's DisplayDigits attribute:
-
Zero or positive numbers specify the number of digits to display to the right of the decimal point.
-
Negative numbers specify the number of significant digits.
-
-
For PI Vision calculations or PI AF attributes without a PI point data reference, numbers show 5 significant digits.
All data items show the thousands separator.
General
Show all significant digits for numbers except for trailing zeros. If the absolute value of the number is greater than 1x107 or less than 1x10-4, the format will switch to use scientific notation.
Number
Show numbers in the custom format that you specify:
-
Decimal Places
The number of digits shown after the decimal.
-
Use 1000 separator
Select this check box to show the thousands separator in large numbers.
Scientific
Show numbers in the format 0.00E+00.

Under Rows, you can make changes to the table rows.
Note: You cannot add rows to the table from the Configure Table pane. Rows are added to the table only when you add data items to the table from the Assets pane.
In the Default Label field, select what you want to appear in the table for the rows' label names, by default. The options are:
Default - PI Vision's default way of displaying row labels is used. When this option is selected, in many cases the row name is displayed as Asset | Attribute. However, this varies for certain data types.
Asset - The row label is the row data's asset name that is configured in PI AF.
Attribute - The row label is the row data's attribute name that is configured in PI AF.
Description - The row label is the row data's description text that is configured in PI AF.
You can customize the label for each individual row to something different than the Default Label selection if necessary, by using the Label field further below.
Use the rows list to select, move, or delete a row:
-
Use the left pair of up or down arrows to move the selected row higher or lower on the table.
-
Use the right pair of up or down arrows to move the selected row all the way to the top or bottom of the table.
-
Select X to delete the selected row.
To change the units for a row, select the row in the list, and then in the Units field select the units from the drop-down list. Only units appropriate for conversion from the base unit are listed.
To change the name that appears in the table for any individual row, select the row in the list, then in the Label field select an option. If you select Use table default, the option selected in the Default Label field is used for the row name. Otherwise, you can choose to use a pre-determined name that comes from PI AF or you can use custom text by selecting <Custom> then replace <Custom> with the text that you want to appear as the row name.
-
-
Under Font, select your preferred font from the Name dropdown.
Note: If the selected font is not installed on a user’s system, an alternative font will be used by the browser. Roboto and Roboto Slab are installed with PI Vision, so will display consistently for all users.
To change the font size:
-
Select or enter a size in the Size dropdown.
-
Use the Increase Font Size
and Decrease Font Size
buttons to change the size incrementally.
-
-
Under Style, select the table style that best accommodates your work environment.
Choose from default, light, or dark.
-
If you want to reset all the settings in the pane to the default settings, select Reset to default.
-
If you want to save the current settings as the default settings for table symbols, select Save as default. The saved settings are applied by default when a user creates a new table symbol, and they are applied when a user selects Reset to default in this pane.
Note: You must have administrator privileges to save defaults.
-
Select the down arrow
at the top of the pane and then select Add Navigation Link to add a navigation link to the symbol.
