Uninstall or disable PI Web API

AVEVA PI Vision no longer depends on PI Web API. If you do not have other applications that require it on your AVEVA PI Vision server, it is recommended that you remove PI Web API from your system. If you do not want to remove PI Web API, you should at a minimum disable the PI Web API Crawler service on this server.

Uninstall PI Web API

  1. Open Programs and Features and select the PI Web API version listed on-screen.

  2. Select Uninstall and follow the steps to remove PI Web API from the server. This will remove both the PI Web API and PI Web API Crawler services running on the server.

Disable PI Web API Crawler

Note: The PI Web API Crawler is automatically removed if you uninstall PI Web API in the previous step.

  1. From Start > Run, open services.msc.

  2. Right-click on PI Web API Crawler and select Properties.

  3. On the General tab, select Stop to stop the service.

  4. On the General tab, change Startup type to Disabled.

  5. Select Apply and OK to save the settings.
