When you delete a folder or delete individual displays, those items are moved to the Recycle Bin. You can leave items in the Recycle Bin indefinitely, restore them, or permanently delete them.
When a folder is in the Recycle Bin, that folder contains all of the contents that existed in the folder when it was deleted. Contents may include displays, subfolders, and displays that are within those subfolders. While you cannot view those items while the folder is in the Recycle Bin, all of those items are restored if you restore the folder.
Note: Displays that are deleted using the Display Utility are not sent to the Recycle Bin and they are immediately deleted.
You can change how the displays in the Recycle Bin are sorted by choosing one of following
options at the top of the page: Recycled On, Recycled By, Name, or Owner. You can also select the Toggle sort direction
icon to reverse the sort direction.
Restore items in the Recycle Bin
You can restore folders and displays from the Recycle Bin so that they are once again available to use in PI Vision. When you restore an item, it is restored to its original folder location with the same permissions and owner that it had when it was deleted.
When restoring items from the Recycle Bin, keep in mind the following:
-
To be able to restore an item from the Recycle Bin, you need to have at least the Manage permission on that item.
-
To be able to restore a folder, you must have at least the Write permission on all folders that are parents to the location where the folder is being restored (the folder's original location).
-
If you restore a display and you do not have at least the Write permission on all of its parent folders, the display is restored to the Unorganized area instead of to its original folder location.
-
Name uniqueness requirements are enforced when restoring items. If a new folder or display with the same name was created before an item is restored, then the restored item is renamed to enforce name uniqueness. A restored folder is never merged with another folder.
Note: If an item is restored from the Recycle Bin, but its parent folder was previously deleted and is in the Recycle Bin, that parent folder is also automatically restored (along with any parent folders to that parent folder). Any other items that those parent folders contain are not restored. However, those parent folders now appear in both their restored locations and the Recycle Bin, allowing you to restore the other items that they contain from the Recycle Bin if needed.

Delete items in the Recycle Bin
If you are sure that you no longer need items that are in the Recycle Bin, you can permanently delete those items so that they are no longer available to be restored.
