Draw a rectangle on a display

You can use the Draw Shape tool to draw a rectangle on a display.

  1. Click Modify Display Design mode button to enter Design mode.

  2. Click the Draw Shape Draw shape tool tool and then click the rectangle.

  3. Click the background of the display, drag the cursor until the rectangle reaches the desired size, and then release the mouse button.

    Note: If you hold down the Shift key while dragging any of the rectangle's handles, it will scale proportionally.

  4. Move the rectangle on the display or resize it by using the sizing handles. Combine multiple shapes to create diagrams and drawings.

    Note: To select multiple shapes, use the Ctrl key in combination with the left mouse button.

  5. To format the rectangle, right-click it and click Format Shape to open the Format Shape pane.

    You can update the following settings for a rectangle:

    • Fill: Use this option to update the background color for the rectangle with a built-in color, a custom color using hex code or the color picker, or a transparent background.

    • Border: Use this option to update the border color for the rectangle with a built-in color, a custom color with hex code or the color picker, or a transparent background.

      Border option

    • Weight: Use this option to increase or decrease the thickness of the rectangle's Border.

      Weight option

    • Style: Use this option to change the border style for the rectangle from a solid line to one of the dotted or dashed lines.

      Style option

    • Rotation: Drag the slider to the right to rotate the rectangle clockwise. Drag the slider to the left to rotate the rectangle counterclockwise.

    • Angle: To manually adjust the angle of rotation for the rectangle, enter a number between 0 and 360.

      Note: This setting overrides any changes that you may have made to the Rotation setting.

  6. To configure the Configure Multi-state and Add Navigation Link options for the rectangle, click Down arrow at the top of the Format Shape pane.

  7. To close Design mode when you are finished editing the rectangle, click Modify Display Design mode button again.
