Use the AVEVA PI Vision Display Utility to quickly manage displays in bulk by deleting them, reassigning them to a different owner, or sharing them with another user group represented by a PI AF identity.

Important: When you delete displays using the Display Utility they are deleted immediately, whereas if you delete displays through PI Vision those displays are sent to the Recycle Bin where they can be easily restored.

Note: For more information about sharing displays based on PI AF identities, see the AVEVA PI Vision User Guide topic Display settings and permissions.

  1. Run the AVEVA PI Vision Display Utility:

    1. Navigate to Program Files\PIPC\PIVisionDisplayUtility.

    2. Double-click PIVisionDisplayUtility.exe.

  2. On the start page, select Manage Displays.

  3. In the Connect to the PI Vision Server field, enter the URL that connects to the AVEVA PI Vision server containing the displays, and then select Connect.

  4. Find and select your displays by either entering their name or owner or finding them on the list.

  5. To delete the selected displays, select Delete.

  6. If you want, reassign the selected displays to a different owner:

    1. Select Change Owner.

    2. At the prompt, select an existing display owner from the list and select Apply.

Note: To appear in the Select the new owner list, a user needs to have previously logged in to PI Vision and viewed at least one display.

  7. To change the identities that can view the selected displays, select Add or Remove Identities.

    1. Search for the identities for which you want to modify permissions.

    2. From the list of identities, modify permissions for this display by selecting or deselecting Read, Write, or Manage.

Note: Selecting a higher level permission automatically grants any lower level permission(s) to that identity. For example, Write automatically grants Read access to the display for that identity.

    3. To remove Read, Write, or Manage access for identities that already have access, select the red X for each type of access.

      Update read write access

Note: Applying and removing Deny permissions is not currently supported by the Display Utility; you need to use PI Vision to work directly with Deny permissions. However, if you apply Read, Write, or Manage access to any identity that already has a corresponding Deny permission, that Deny permission is removed and it is overwritten with the Ready, Write, or Manage permission that you specified.

    4. To save your changes, select Apply.

    5. Select Back to return to the previous screen.

  8. To display the PI Vision Display Utility Log, select Show Log.
