AVEVA™ PI Vision™

View the message logs

  1. On the AVEVA PI Vision application server computer, open the Windows Event Viewer tool. By default, the tool is accessible directly from the Windows Start menu.

  2. Select the + button to expand Applications and Services Logs. AVEVA PI Vision application messages display under the following categories:

    • OSIsoft-PIDataServices

      Contains messages related to data access from Data Archive servers and PI AF servers.

      • Admin

      • Operational

    • OSIsoft-PIVisualization

      Includes search and data retrieval messages (including all messages from the administration website and file monitoring services).

      • Admin

      • Operational

    • OSIsoft-Search

      Includes messages related to searches executed by AVEVA PI Vision.

      • Admin

    • OSIsoft-PIVisionUtility

      Includes messages related to the Utility endpoint used by the PI Vision Display Utility, PI ProcessBook to PI Vision Migration Utility, and PI Vision API.

      • Admin

      • Operational

  3. Use the Analytics Event Viewer log to trace search calls:

    1. Open Windows Event Viewer.

    2. Select View.

    3. Select Show Analytic and Debug Logs.

    4. Right-click the Analytic/Debug log and select Enable Log.

  4. Optional: Create a custom view to see all of these events in one place:

    1. In the left pane of the Windows Event Viewer, right-click the Custom Views row and select Create Custom View.

    2. Give the view a name. For example, AVEVA PI Vision Events.

    3. Select the XML tab.

    4. Check Edit query manually and add the following text:
