Automatic PI Vision upgrade backups

When you upgrade AVEVA PI Vision, the installation program creates a copy of the AVEVA PI Vision database.

This backup file is called PIVisualizationDatabase.backup and is located in the default Microsoft SQL Server backup directory. For example:

Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Backup

If a backup database already exists at this location from a previous AVEVA PI Vision upgrade, the installation kit overwrites the older backup file.

The installation program also creates copies of upgraded web.config files, which are located in:

Program Data\OSIsoft\Coresight\PIDSTemp
