Set permissions to allow users to acknowledge and annotate events

The PI administrator must set security permissions for users to acknowledge and annotate events on the events details page of AVEVA PI Vision. Permissions can be set in PI AF 2016 and later using PI System Explorer. Acknowledgement and annotations permissions are set separately for each event-frame template. To set acknowledgment permissions, you must also set annotation permissions.

Note: To acknowledge and annotate events, PI AF 2016 is required. Kerberos constrained delegation or Basic Authentication must be configured between the AVEVA PI Vision application server and the PI AF server. See Enable Kerberos delegation.

Note: For more information about PI AF security permissions and event acknowledgement and annotation, see topics under Welcome to PI System Explorer.

  1. In PI System Explorer, connect to the database that contains the event-frame template for which you would like to set permissions.

  2. Go to Library > Templates > Event Frame Templates and find your event-frame template in the list and select it.

  3. If you want users to be able to acknowledge the event, select the Can Be Acknowledged check box.

Select Can Be Acknowledged check box

  4. Select Security.

  5. In the Security Configuration window, choose the PI AF identity or individual users to whom you would like to grant acknowledgment and/or annotation permissions.

Update the PI AF identity or individual user annotation ability

  6. To allow users to acknowledge and/or annotate the event, select the Allow check box for the Annotate permission.

Note: Make sure that the AVEVA PI Vision application pool has Read Data permissions.

  7. Select OK once all security permissions are set.
