Restrict the use of calculations

You can set up various mathematical calculations on PI tags and AF attributes in AVEVA PI Vision to help you analyze your data, however, calculations can be resource-intensive and may slow down your system if they are complex or they are used excessively. To help you maintain system performance, the Administration website provides options for restricting users' ability to create, edit, and execute calculations.
-
On the AVEVA PI Vision Administration website, select Security, then Calculations.

-
Select the option that you want to use:
Allow everyone to create, edit, and execute calculations. - If selected, there are no restrictions on using calculations for any users.
Allow everyone belonging to any of the selected identities to create and edit calculations. Everyone can execute calculations. - If selected, a list of PI AF identities appears so that you can specify which identities are allowed to create and edit calculations. Users who do not belong to those selected identities are not allowed to create calculations, edit calculations, or add existing calculations to symbols. All users can open existing displays that use calculations and the calculations are performed as expected.
Do not allow anyone to create or edit calculations. Everyone can execute existing calculations. - If selected, no users can create calculations, edit calculations, or add existing calculations to symbols. All users can open existing displays that use calculations and the calculations are performed as expected.
Do not allow anyone to create, edit, or execute calculations. - This setting prevents AVEVA PI Vision from evaluating calculations, and users cannot create or edit calculations. Symbols that reference calculations show a value of No Data. Multi-states based on calculations show the Bad Data state. Users can view existing calculations and delete them if they are not referenced in a display.

Select Save.

For the change to take effect, open IIS Manager and recycle the PI Vision application pool, PIVisionServiceAppPool.
