Before installing AVEVA PI Vision, prepare the application server by opening the required ports, downloading the required software, and, if necessary, installing Microsoft SQL Server.
-
Open the required port for the AVEVA PI Vision website.
Port 443 is the default HTTPS port. You can select a different port during installation if you have other websites already configured to use that port on the machine on which you are installing AVEVA PI Vision.
By using port 443, you don’t have to specify a port number in the URL that you use to access AVEVA PI Vision.
If you are installing on a web server that hosts multiple sites on the same port, you need to temporarily change the port number for those other sites before installation:
-
In Internet Information Server (IIS) Manager, select the website where you want to install AVEVA PI Vision, right-click and select Edit Bindings.
-
In Site Bindings, select the first row and select Edit.
-
Change the port number to a unique number and select OK.
-
After installation, you can change the port number back to the original number.
Note: If you are installing on an existing PI WebParts or PI Web Services application server, then you must create a separate website with a unique port number. You cannot install AVEVA PI Vision under an existing web application.

Download the required software:
-
AVEVA PI Vision installation kit. You can download installation kits from the AVEVA Customer Portal Products page.
-
Microsoft SQL Server installation kit (you can skip this step if you plan to use an existing SQL Server installation or you are not using an on-premises Microsoft SQL Server). The setup kit for SQL Server Express is available for download on the AVEVA Support portal. See Microsoft SQL Server requirements.

Install Microsoft SQL Server (if you plan to use an existing SQL Server installation or you are not using an on-premises Microsoft SQL Server, then skip this step).
