Configure an asset comparison table

Use the Configure Table pane to customize the asset comparison table.

Right-click the table and then select Configure Table to open the Configure Table pane.

Under Attributes, customize the attributes that appear in the table. Note that the values for each attribute may either appear horizontally across rows or vertically down columns, depending on the Orientation setting that is selected in the pane.

To add an attribute row/column to the table, if necessary first select Modify Attribute List to open the list of unused attributes. Select the unused attribute(s) that you want to add, then select the large Add Attributes up arrow to move them into the Current Attributes list.

To remove an attribute row/column from the table, if necessary first select Modify Attribute List to open the list of unused attributes. Select the attribute(s) that you want to remove in the Current Attributes list, then select the large Remove Attributes down arrow to move them into the unused attributes list.

To change the order that attributes appear in the table, you can either select an attribute in the Current Attributes list and use the small arrow buttons to move its position or, if attributes are set up to appear in columns, you can select an attribute's column header in the table and drag it to a new position.

To change the units of measurement for any attribute values, if necessary first select Modify Attribute Properties. Select the desired attribute(s) in the Current Attributes list, then select the Units field and choose the units from the drop-down list. Only units that are appropriate for conversion from the attribute's base unit are listed.

If you want to change the header text that appears in the table for an attribute, if necessary first select Modify Attribute Properties. Select the desired attribute in the Current Attributes list, then in the Label field select <Custom>. Replace <Custom> with the text that you want to appear in the table as the attribute header.

To show units of measurement in the table for any attribute values, if necessary first select Modify Attribute Properties. Select the desired attribute(s) in the Current Attributes list, then select the Show Units check box.

If you want the values for any attributes to always appear in their entirety so that they are not truncated, if necessary first select Modify Attribute Properties. Select the desired attribute(s) in the Current Attributes list, then select Wrap text. When this option is selected, values in the table appear on multiple lines if necessary to display the values' entire text. If you do not select this option, values in the table appear on only one line and they are truncated if they do not fit within the column width.

If you want to customize how text is aligned within the table cells, if necessary first select Modify Attribute Properties. Select the desired attribute(s) in the Current Attributes list, then select an Alignment option to align text either left, center, or right.

Under Numbers, customize the format of numbers in the table.
Format
Description
Database
Show numbrs in a format that depends on the data item:

For PI points or PI AF attributes with a PI point data reference, the format depends on the value of the point's DisplayDigits attribute:

Zero or positive numbers specify the number of digits to display to the right of the decimal point.

Negative numbers specify the number of significant digits.
-

For PI Vision calculations or PI AF attributes without a PI point data reference, numbers show 5 significant digits.
All data items show the thousands separator.
General
Show all significant digits for numbers except for trailing zeros. If the absolute value of the number is greater than 1x107 or less than 1x10-4, the format will switch to use scientific notation.
Number
Show numbers in the custom format that you specify:

Decimal Places
The number of digits shown after the decimal.

Use 1000 separator
Select this check box to show the thousands separator in large numbers.
Scientific
Show numbers in the format 0.00E+00.

Under Assets, customize the asset rows/columns. Note that assets may appear as either rows or columns, depending on the Orientation setting that is selected in the pane.

Use the left pair of up or down arrows to move the selected row higher or lower on the table.

Use the right pair of up or down arrows to move the selected row all the way to the top or bottom of the table.

Click X to delete the selected row.

Under Font, select your preferred font in the Name field.
Note: If the selected font is not installed on your system, an alternative font is used by the browser. Roboto and Roboto Slab are installed with PI Vision, so that they display consistently for all users.
To change the font size, either:

Select or enter a size in the Size field.

Use the Increase Font Size
and Decrease Font Size
buttons to change the size incrementally.

Under Style, change the appearance of the table to by selecting the light, dark, or striped table style.

Under Orientation, change the orientation of the data that appears in the table by selecting Show Assets As either Rows or Columns. If you select Rows, the values for each asset's attributes appear horizontally across rows. If you select Columns, the values for each asset's attributes appear vertically down columns.

If you want to reset all the settings in the pane to the default settings, select Reset to default.

If you want to save the current settings as the default settings for asset comparison tables, select Save as default. The saved settings are applied by default when a user creates a new asset comparison table, and they are applied when a user selects Reset to default in the Configure Table pane.
Note: You must have administrator privileges to save defaults.

Select the down arrow
at the top of the pane and then select the option to add a multi-state or a navigation
link to the symbol.
