AVEVA PI Vision 2025 (version 3.11.0.0) is a web server-based product that allows you to visualize, assess, and monitor PI System data using any modern web browser. This version provides several display editing and manageability enhancements.

New features and enhancements

Display editing and process monitoring

  • Sort assets in collections and dynamic symbols by value

For collections and dynamic symbols, you can sort assets by a template attribute value, allowing you to see results in a customized priority order. For example, if the symbols in a collection each provide the temperature for a different asset, you could sort the collection by temperature to see the five assets with the highest temperature values.

  • Tooltip configuration

Each user can toggle tooltips on and off, allowing users to choose if tooltips appear when hovering over data items on symbols. With tooltips on, users can further choose to have the tooltips display data item descriptions as well as the PI Point paths for PI Point data reference attributes.

  • Data item details and copy data item name

A new Data Item Details pane lets you view detailed information about any data item that appears on a symbol. You can copy any of the information appearing in the pane to your clipboard. Additionally, if you want to copy only the datasource paths for each data item in a symbol to your clipboard, you can quickly do so by selecting the symbol then select Ctrl+C, allowing you to easily take data item context into other applications like PI DataLink.

  • Ad hoc workspace enhancements

Access the Ad Hoc Workspace from the homepage, via URL, or from a display, enabling a new way for users to interact with their PI Server data. New options include directly searching for data items in the workspace, URL parameter support, and the ability to share ad hoc trends via URL.

  • Trend enhancements

  • Table enhancements

    • You can transpose the asset comparison table symbol, orienting assets as either rows or columns, providing an easier way to compare assets that have numerous attributes.

    • Improved label, alignment, and text wrapping options across all table symbols.

  • Open links in the current window

When you click links that automatically appear on displays, the default behavior was changed so that they open in the current browser tab instead of a new tab. For example, this new behavior applies to clickable events in events tables and whenever attributes have values that are links. However, you can choose to open these links in a new tab using a right-click context menu. Navigation links that you create manually still allow you to specify the default behavior with regard to how they open.

  • Restrict users’ ability to use calculations from the Administration site

Calculations can be resource-intensive and may slow down your system if they are used excessively. Therefore, on the Administration site, now you can restrict users’ ability to create, edit, and execute calculations either globally or based on their AF identities.

  • Event Details URL parameters

You can use URL parameters if you want an event details page to open with specific options automatically applied instead of the default options. With URL parameters, you can specify whether the multiple scales or single scale option is applied, hide the toolbar, hide the sidebar, and more.

Display and folder management

  • Home folder permissions

You can set read/write/manage permissions for the Home folder, allowing administrators to create a curated Home folder experience.

  • Unorganized area

There is a new Unorganized area where displays are saved if they are not saved in a folder.

  • Recycle Bin

Deleted displays are moved to the Recycle Bin for easy recovery. Also, now you can select multiple displays and delete them all at once. You can select those displays individually or use the Shift key to quickly select a group of consecutive displays.

  • Bulk update Manage permissions

You can use the Display Utility to set the Manage permission across multiple displays at once. (The Manage permission was introduced to PI Vision in the 2024 release. It could not be assigned from the 2024 Display Utility, but it can now be assigned using the 2025 Display Utility.)
