Save displays

You must save displays to save changes that you make. You can save existing displays with a new name and rename existing displays.

Save a new display or save an existing display under a new name:

1. To save a new display, click Save on the title bar or press Ctrl+S. To save an existing display under a new name, click the arrow next to the Save button, and then click Save As.

   

   The Save As window opens.

2. In the Save As window, enter the name for the display.

3. The current folder is automatically selected, but you may select a different folder to save in. If you want to save the display as an unorganized display, select the / at the top of the Save window, then select Unorganized.

   Note: To be allowed to save a display in a folder, you must have the Write permission or higher for that folder.

4. Select Inherit permissions from [folder name] if you want the display to inherit the user permissions from the folder that the display is saved in. When this option is selected, if permissions are changed on the folder, the permissions for the display automatically update to match the folder.

   This option is not available for displays that are saved in the Home folder.

   Note: If you select Inherit permissions from [folder name] for all of your displays, you institute a commonly used permissions structure with the result that:
   - If a user can view a folder, the user can view all of the displays that are contained in that folder.
   - If a user cannot view a folder, the user cannot view any of the displays that are contained in that folder.

5. Click Save.

Save changes made to an existing display:

Click Save on the title bar or press Ctrl+S to save changes to an existing display.

Note: If another user updates and saves the same display prior to you, you will not be able to save until you reload the display or save the display with a different name.

To refresh the display and abandon any new changes you have made since AVEVA PI Vision detected the save conflict, click Reload. To retain your changes and save them to a new display, click Save As.

Rename an existing display:

6. Click the display name in the title bar.

7. Enter a new name.
