AVEVA™ PI Vision™

Understand the Home folder

  • Last UpdatedNov 25, 2025

When AVEVA PI Vision is first installed, a Home folder is the only folder that is provided by default. Below are some limitations and considerations to be aware of regarding the Home folder.

  • The Home folder cannot be moved, deleted, or renamed.

  • You can Set folder permissions on the Home folder with the exception that it can not Inherit Permissions because the Home folder can not have a parent folder to inherit from.

  • By default, the permissions on the Home folder provide Read access to the World identity and no other permissions. This means that when PI Vision is first installed only PI Vision administrators can create displays and folders in the Home folder unless the Home folder's permissions are changed.

  • PI Vision administrators may delegate administrative rights to the Home folder and the child folders beneath it by assigning the Administrator permission to other users in the Home folder permissions.

  • Administrators can force the entire folder hierarchy to conform to the permissions that they set on the Home folder by selecting Override permissions on descendants in the Home folder permissions.
