AVEVA™ PI Vision™

Export data from a display

You can export data from a display to an XML file or a CSV file. The exported file contains the timestamps and recorded values for all of the display's data sources within the display's selected time range.

Exporting is not supported for Event Comparison displays.

Note: If you want to retrieve only the path for each datasource on a symbol without any of the recorded values, you can do so by selecting one or more symbols (use the Ctrl key to select multiple symbols) then Ctrl+C to copy. You can then paste the datasource paths into a spreadsheet, text editor, etc. It may be especially helpful to paste the datasources in to Excel if you use the Datalink add-in to perform queries against PI. Furthermore, you can use the Data Item Details pane if you want to copy-and-paste basic information about any data that appears in a symbol.

Click the Save As arrow Save icon to open the export options:

  • Click Export as .xml to create an XML file with source data from the display.

  • Click Export as .csv to create a CSV file with source data from the display.

AVEVA PI Vision retrieves up to 3600 values per data item and writes them to the exported file.

Open the exported file in Microsoft Excel to view the data in a formatted spreadsheet:

  • Exported XML files contain two worksheets:

    • A Display worksheet that lists interval data for the data items in the display. AVEVA PI Vision automatically determines the interval size based on the display time range.

    • An Archive worksheet that lists archive data for all data items in the display.

  • Exported CSV files contain one worksheet that lists the data source, time, and value for each recorded value for data items in the display.
