Access provides essential services for managing user identities, authentication, and controlling access to your industrial data and platform resources in CONNECT. This foundation ensures your organization can securely share information while maintaining appropriate boundaries and permissions.

The access system follows a comprehensive security model where Users represent individuals who need to interact with the platform. These users can be organized into Groups for easier management, allowing you to apply permissions to entire teams or departments at once. Roles define collections of specific permissions that determine what actions can be performed within the system, while Role assignments connect these roles to users or groups, establishing who can do what. For automated systems and integrations, clients provide secure application-to-application communication with appropriate access controls. Finally, Security tags offer granular protection at the resource level, allowing you to restrict access to specific data assets regardless of a user's general permissions.

This multi-layered approach to security gives you flexible, precise control over your industrial data. Administrators can establish broad permission patterns through roles while using security tags to implement data-specific protections, creating a security framework that balances ease of management with fine-grained access control.
