Edit data store settings

Use the Data store settings page to add service instances and different capabilities to a data store as your needs grow. This page includes controls to enable additional service instances related to the selected data store. Think of this as an expansion page. Use it to turn on additional capabilities for the data store, but not to turn existing services off.

Prerequisites

When enabling a new service instance for your data store, be aware that some services have prerequisites. If you enable a service that requires another storage service a prerequisite, you are prompted to enable that service.

For example, Knowledge Graph has a dependecy on Entities Store. Threfore, if you want to enable Knowledge Graph, you must also enable Entities Store.

To edit data store settings

1. In the navigation rail, select Data stores.

2. From the Change data store dropdown, verify that the data store instance containing the resources and data you want to work with is selected.

3. Select Settings.

4. To provision additional services for the data store, enable the sliders for the services that you want to add.

   You may need to enable prerequisite services in support of any services that you add. The page will prompt you to turn these on.

What happens when you enable a service?

When you enable a service, a new service instance for storing a resource type is provisioned and added to the selected data store. Data store settings allow you to easily add support for new storage resources if they were not selected during initial creation of storage from the Sites page or Service and applications page. Additionally, a new card for the enabled service is added to the Data stores page.

Why services cannot be disabled

Enabled services cannot be disabled from this page by design. This helps protect existing data, dependent features, and integrations that may already rely on those services. Data store settings is intentionally add-only. You can enable new services, but cannot disable them.
