Introduction to folders

Folders in CONNECT are used to partition data and deploy services and applications.

When you use the recommended approach of managing data in your account through sites, CONNECT automatically creates some folders.

There are limited options for editing folders after they have been created. For this reason, it is important to understand you organizational requirements for data partitioning before you begin creating folders.

For information about viewing, editing and creating folders, see Manage folders.

Use folders for access management

In most cases, we recommend you manage user access to resources through sites.

You can also use folders to control which users can access specific services and applications in your account. By assigning access at the folder level, you can fine-tune permissions and reduce the need for broad, account-wide access.

To control access by using folders, create a role assignment and apply it to the appropriate folder. For more information, see Role assignments.
