Import and manage industrial graphics in CONNECT

Use the Content library page to import, view, and manage custom industrial graphics in CONNECT.

View industrial graphics in the content library

The content library stores industrial graphics that you and other users import.

  1. From the CONNECT navigation rail, select Content library.

  2. Select the Graphics tab.

  3. Choose a view:

    • Select Grid view to show graphic thumbnails.

    • Select List view to show graphic names in a list.

  4. To find a graphic, enter a name or description in the Search graphics field.

  5. Select a graphic to view its details in the side panel.

Import industrial graphics into the content library

You can import custom industrial graphics from System Platform or standalone inTouch HMI into CONNECT to use in visualizations.

Before you import, export the graphics as an .aaPKG file. For information about creating CONNECT-compatible industrial graphics and exporting them to .aaPKG, see the following topics:

How import works

When you import an .aaPKG file, your browser extracts the supported GTB graphics, packages them into a ZIP file, and uploads it to CONNECT. CONNECT then uses that uploaded ZIP to complete the import and store the graphics in the content library.

System Platform .aaPKG files can include content other than graphics, such as templates or objects, but CONNECT imports only the supported GTB graphics. Standalone InTouch HMI .aapKG files contain only GTB graphics.

Import limits

  • You can import up to 10 .aaPKG files at a time.

  • Each .aaPKG file can be up to 256 MB.

  • Each graphic in an .aaPKG file can be up to 2 MB.

  • Each generated ZIP file can be up to 64 MB.

Note: An .aaPKG file that meets the 256 MB limit can still generate a ZIP file that exceeds 64 MB. If this happens, export a smaller .aaPKG file and import it again.

  • Your CONNECT account can contain up to 1,000 imported graphics.

Start an import

  1. From the CONNECT navigation rail, select Content library.

  2. Do one of the following:

    • Select Import. Select one or more .aaPKG files, and then select Open.

    • Drag one or more .aaPKG files into the Content library window.

  3. If the content library already contains industrial graphics, choose how to handle duplicates if CONNECT encounters graphics with the same name during import, and then select Continue:

    • Keep existing graphics and don’t import duplicates.

    • Overwrite existing graphics with the imported versions.

  4. The import starts. In the side panel, review the Import status for each .aaPKG file. To collapse the panel, select Hide. To expand it, select Show.

Important: Keep the browser open during import. Refreshing or closing the browser can lose packages that are still waiting to upload.

  5. When the import is complete, the panel shows the count of industrial graphics for each status:

    • Imported: New graphics added.

    • Skipped: Duplicate graphics that weren’t imported because you chose to keep the existing graphics.

    • Overwritten: Duplicate graphics that replaced existing graphics because you chose to overwrite existing graphics.

    • Error: Graphics that weren’t imported due to errors.

  6. To view more details for an .aaPKG file, under Import status, select Show details. The Import history tab opens. For more information, see View import history in this topic.

  7. When the import is complete, select the Graphics tab on the content library to view the imported graphics. To add an industrial graphic to a visualization, see Add content to an experience or dashboard.

If an import is interrupted, check the content library and Import history tab to confirm which graphics were imported. If needed, import the original .aaPKG file again and choose the appropriate option for handling duplicate graphics.

    Cancel an import

You can cancel an import that is in progress. If you import multiple .aaPKG files at the same time, you can cancel each package separately. When you cancel an import, CONNECT finishes processing the current graphic in that package and then stops importing the remaining graphics in that package.

Canceling an import doesn’t remove graphics that were already imported or undo overwrites. To remove them, delete the graphics from the content library. See Delete industrial graphics from the content library in this topic.

    1. In the side panel, select Cancel next to the .aaPKG you want to cancel.

    2. Confirm the cancellation.

After the import stops, the import status shows Canceled and displays how many graphics were imported before the import stopped.

      View import history

On the Content library page, the Import history tab lists the 100 most recent .aaPKG files that have been imported into your account by you or other users.

Import History stores results only. It doesn’t store the original package file. Keep your .aaPKG files if you might need to import them again.

      • To find an entry, enter a description, user, date, or other keyword in the Filter by keyword field.

      • Select an entry to view import results for each graphic in the package. If a graphic failed to import, review the status details, fix the source graphic, export it again, and then re-import it.

Delete industrial graphics from the content library

You can delete graphics you no longer need to free space in your account limit (see Import limits in this topic).

      • Deleting is permanent and cannot be undone. Visualizations that use a deleted graphic will no longer display it. Before you delete a graphic, check where it’s used and remove it from any visualizations.

      • If you delete a graphic by mistake, import it again from the original package file.

      • If some graphics can’t be deleted, CONNECT identifies them and deletes the rest.

      1. On the Content library page, select the Graphics tab.

      2. Delete graphics in List view or Grid view:

        • List view: Select one or more graphics, and then in the side panel select Delete or , as applicable.

        • Grid view: On the graphic thumbnail, select .

      3. Review the confirmation, then select Delete.
