This document provides a comprehensive reference table of all measurement quantities available in the system, along with the units of measure (UOMs) associated with each quantity. A quantity represents a physical or abstract measurable property (such as length, mass, time, or temperature) that provides context for interpreting and converting units of measure. By organizing units under their respective quantities,CONNECT ensures consistency and accuracy in data representation, unit conversion, and analytics.
How quantities are used
Quantities serve as categories that group related units of measure (UOMs) together. When defining streams or types, you can optionally assign UOMs to properties, with the UOM automatically associated to a quantity. Units can then be converted to other units that share the same quantity. This structure enables the platform to perform automatic unit conversions, validate data, and maintain consistency across different data sources and applications.
Quantities are also essential for dimensional analysis, ensuring that calculations and comparisons are meaningful and that only compatible units are used together. For example, a property defined with the "Length" quantity can use meters, feet, or inches as units, and the system will handle conversions as needed.
Where quantities are used
Quantities are used throughout the platform, especially in stream and type definitions, data validation, and unit conversion operations. The following API endpoints provide access to quantity information:

Get measurement quantities—Retrieves the full list of available measurement quantities.

Get quantity by ID—Retrieves details for a specific quantity, including its base unit and dimensional information.

Get unit of measure for a specific quantity—Lists all units of measure associated with a specific quantity.

Get units of measure for a specific quantity—Retrieves details for a specific unit within the context of its parent quantity.

How to use this table
Use the table below to look up valid quantities, their identifiers, and the units of measure associated with each. When configuring streams, types, or building integrations, ensure that properties are assigned the correct quantity and that only compatible units are used. This will help maintain data quality, enable automatic conversions, and support robust analytics and reporting.
