Add and organize panes

Experiences are made up of panes that display content. The available panes are:
Primary pane: Every experience includes a primary pane, which is the main area for displaying content.
Slide-in pane: A slide-in pane anchors to the edge of your experience. You can add one in each position: left, right, top, or bottom. When a viewer runs the experience, a slide-in pane remains hidden until the viewer selects its handle to slide it into view. Slide-in panes are useful for expanding your layout or displaying navigation bars and navigation trees. See Add a navigation bar or navigation tree.
Organize pane content
Both the primary pane and the slide-in panes have a pane type that determines how they display content. By default, the pane type is single, meaning each pane displays one piece of content. You can change the pane type to tabbed or split the pane.
-
Change the pane type to tabbed to organize multiple pieces of content within one pane. A tabbed pane contains multiple tabs, each displaying one piece of content. Viewers select a tab to view its content. Because only one tab is visible at a time, you can organize more content in one pane without cluttering the view. For instructions, see Configure pane properties.
-
Split a pane to divide it into multiple smaller panes, each displaying one piece of content simultaneously. Each resulting pane defaults to single, but you can change the pane type to tabbed. For instructions, see Split a pane in this topic.
You can add, split, and configure panes only on the root navigation item.
Add a slide-in pane
To add a slide-in pane, select Add slide in pane to the left, right, above, or below the primary pane area. A slide-in pane appears in the selected location.
Split a pane
To split a pane:
-
Select the pane you want to split.
-
Select Split pane near the top of the page, then select where you want the split pane to appear from the dropdown.
Extend a pane
If you split a pane vertically and horizontally, you can extend a split pane into an adjacent pane. To extend a pane:
-
Select the pane you want to extend.
-
Select Extend pane near the top of the page, then select from the dropdown the direction in which you want to extend the pane.
Resize split panes
After you split a pane, select and drag the borders of the pane to adjust its size.
