Use the entity(id:) query to retrieve an entity together with the event types associated with it.
Query signature
entity(id: ID!): RelatedEventTypeEntityResult
The result contains an item with basic entity fields and two representations of its related event types:
-
relatedEventTypes returns type objects, including fields such as id and name.
-
relatedEventTypeIds returns only type identifiers and remains available for integrations that require the ID list.
Example
query {
entity(id: "equipment-101") {
item {
id
name
description
relatedEventTypes {
id
name
}
relatedEventTypeIds
}
}
}
Example response shape:
{
"data": {
"entity": {
"item": {
"id": "equipment-101",
"name": "Main circulation pump",
"description": "Primary process pump",
"relatedEventTypes": [
{
"id": "MaintenanceEvent",
"name": "Maintenance event"
}
],
"relatedEventTypeIds": [
"MaintenanceEvent"
]
}
}
}
}
Empty and error results
An entity without associated event types can return empty related-event-type collections. Handle a nullable item for an entity that is unavailable to the caller.
If event-type resolution fails, process the GraphQL errors collection according to the guidance in Error handling. Capture the traceId before escalating.
Choosing a representation
-
Select relatedEventTypes when the application needs type metadata.
-
Select relatedEventTypeIds when identifiers alone are sufficient or when maintaining an existing response contract.
