You must have the following information available to you before creating a new license request.
-
The contract for which you want to create the license
-
The type of license you wish to generate (license family)
-
The server where the license will be used
-
The AVEVA products for which you are requesting the license
Note: Before requesting a new license, the AVEVA Licensing System must have been installed on the server where the license will be used, and the server must have been added in CALM. For information about how to install AVEVA Licensing System, refer to the documentation of AVEVA Licensing System, and for information about how to add a server in CALM, see Add a New Server.
To create a new license request:
-
From the main menu, select New License Request. A four-step guided procedure for creating the new license request is displayed.
Note: Alternatively, you can create a new license request from the Orders page by selecting the Plus icon or from the Contracts page, by selecting New License Request corresponding to the required contract.
-
For the Select Contract step, click Select for the required contract.
Note: If you have more than one current or future CONNECT credits agreement (also known as contract), you must select the contract against which the order needs to be placed. This step is skipped if you have just one contract. Additionally, if you have selected Contracts > New License Request in the previous step, then the contract is automatically selected, and this step is skipped.
-
For the Select License Family step, click Select for the required license family.
If your contract contains products supported by one or more licensing technologies, you must select the appropriate License Family for the products you need. You require a separate license for each license family. This step is skipped if your contract has products for just a single license family.
-
For the Select Server step, click Select for the server where you want to use the license.
Note: For some license families there is no need to select a server.
-
For the Draft License File step, click Add Lines to specify the products for which you want the license. The Select Products dialog box is displayed. Do the following:
-
On the Select Products dialog box, select the contract or the Prepaid option based on your requirement.
-
From the list of products, select the check box(es) corresponding to the product(s) for which you want the licenses.
-
Click Add Lines to add the products to your license file. The selected products are added to the Draft License Request page.
-
Modify the Users (number of users), Project, Start Date and End Date columns for each product based on your requirement.
-
Verify the credits consumption from the Current Balance, Credit Cost This License Request and Projected Balance fields.
Note: You can also extend the validity of an order. The Extend option enables you to start a draft license line based on the details (such as, product, users and entitlement period) of an existing license line. The cost of each license line is noted in the Credits column.
-
-
Select Submit to submit the request.
-
If you have selected Prepaid Entitlement or Legacy LFM as the license family, you will be advised by email when your license file is ready to download.
-
If no Order Approval Group is configured and you have chosen license family AVEVA Licensing System (ALS) or AVEVA Enterprise License System (AELS), a "Generating License" message is displayed and you should be able to download your license file after a few minutes. See Understand CALM servers and sites.
If an Order Approval Group is configured in CALM settings, the next step is for the order to be Approved or Refused by a member of the order approval group. Once the order is approved, the license is charged for and generated. If the order is refused or canceled, no charge is made and no licence is issued.
Note: If it takes longer than 2 minutes for the licence to be issued (after approval if required), please be patient. You will be able to cancel the license request and reclaim your credits after one hour.
