The Settings option on the main menu enables a CLA to set the time zone. The page also displays the timeout and heartbeat settings for their LaaS licenses.
The Timezone list on the Settings page enables you to set a timezone for license lease expiry. Each active user holds licenses until midnight in a configurable time zone. The Timezone field enables you choose which midnight your Seats are held to. If an application is inactive at this time, the license of the user is released, and is available for other users. If the application is active at this time, the license remains checked out to the user and the license is extended till next day midnight.
If a user continues to use a feature after midnight in the specified time zone, the user consumes a Seat for that feature for both the days. It is recommended that you choose a time zone where most users are inactive at midnight.
The Timeout box displays the time limit for refreshing your connection with LaaS in case of a loss of connection. You do not usually need to change this setting. Increasing the duration makes your products more resilient to network problems. However, a high timeout may impact your license releases. If your users are still active close to midnight and the network then fails, they continue to hold the Seats on the next day as well even if they exit the application before midnight. The default timeout is 3600 seconds.
The HeartBeat box displays the time in seconds to verify the connection with LaaS. Heartbeat is the time interval between two connections made with LaaS while using the product. The default is 1680 seconds and the maximum is one hour (3600 seconds).
Contact your License Administrator to change the Timeout and HeartBeat settings, if required.
