Generate a new server ID for a PI Server (for 3​.4​.370 and earlier)

  1. Log on to the PI server

  2. Rename pi\dat\PISysID.dat.

  3. Open a command window in \pi\adm.

  4. Run pidiag -cid -upgrade.

    The -upgrade option causes the ID to be generated as a 5-digit hash of the PI Server name. This is useful at sites that use a standard pilogin.ini file for PI API applications. PI ProcessBook files also store the hashed IDs.
