Log on to the PI server

Rename pi\dat\PISysID.dat.

Open a command window in \pi\adm.

Run pidiag -cid -upgrade.
The -upgrade option causes the ID to be generated as a 5-digit hash of the PI Server name. This is useful at sites that use a standard pilogin.ini file for PI API applications. PI ProcessBook files also store the hashed IDs.
