The AVEVA Identity Manager (AIM), part of Platform Common Services (PCS), enables claims-based authentication using OpenID Connect (OIDC) for on-premises PI Server components. AIM acts as a local identity provider (IdP) and can federate user connection with CONNECT or Microsoft Entra ID.
Prerequisite:
Download the AVEVA PCS 8.2.1 for the PI System setup kit from the AVEVA Customer Portal Products page.
Procedure
-
Log on to the node that will be used as the designated web server for the AVEVA Identity Manager.
-
Navigate to the directory that contains the AVEVA PCS 8.2.1 for the PI System setup kit.
-
Double-click the executable file: AVEVA-PCS-for-PI-8.2.1.exe.
-
Confirm the extraction path, then select OK.
-
Review the software installation and upgrade list, then select OK.
A dialog opens and displays an installation progress bar.
-
Select Finish.
-
Review the list of installed modules, then select Close.
Note: The following known issue has been deferred until a future release: If a machine indicates a pending reboot while installing OCLogger, the installation stops and a generic failure message is added to the Master log file. There are two ways to resolve this issue: 1) Reboot the machine and run the setup kit again; or 2) Follow the instructions in this Microsoft KB article: KB5022083: Change in how WPF-based applications render XPS documents.
Next step: Configure AIM
After installation, use the Configurator utility to set up this node as the System Management Server (SMS) or configure a redundant deployment. See, Configure the AVEVA Identity Manager and Configure AVEVA Identity Manager for redundancy .
For more information about the Configurator utility, see Learn about the AVEVA Identity Manager.
