PI AF installation and upgrade in a failover cluster

Note: The following section is only applicable to on-premises versions of MS SQL Server. High availability with cloud-SQL supported database platforms has not been tested and is not supported by AVEVA.

Using Windows Failover Clustering, you can install and upgrade the components that comprise the PI AF server.

Important: Do not use the PI Server install kit to create the PI AF SQL Server database on failover clusters. You must create the database by manually executing the SQL scripts.

Download the SQL scripts from the customer portal and run them manually, without launching the PI Server install kit. Running the install kit on the PI AF SQL Server database machines can consume system resources and is not recommended.
