The piadmins group is a built-in PI group intended to represent Data Archive administrators. We recommend that you use piadmins, rather than the super-user account (piadmin) for common administrative tasks.
The built-in PI group called piadmins is granted full administrative access permissions by default. Access permissions do not need to be configured for piadmins.
You might need to reconfigure the piadmins access permissions in order to use this PI group for administrative tasks. To do this, add read/write access for piadmins to:
-
All database security entries (in PI SMT)
-
All existing points and modules.
See Learn how to configure access permissions for more information. You can then map piadmins to the Windows users and/or groups that represent your Data Archive system administrators.
Note: The piadmins PI group was previously called piadmin on earlier versions of Data Archive. This meant that Data Archive servers had both a PI user called piadmin and a PI group called piadmin. The PI group name was changed to piadmins (plural) to prevent conflict with the piadmin user account.
