PI AF server stores, contextualizes, refines and analyzes your operational data by organizing them into assets and event frames. PI AF server responds to requests for this data from PI AF Clients. The PI AF server consists of the PI AF application service and the PI AF SQL or cloud-hosted SQL database.
The AF application service provides client applications the ability to read and write PI AF data stored in a PI AF SQL Server database or one of the following cloud database platforms:
-
Microsoft Azure SQL Server
-
Microsoft Azure Managed Instance
-
Amazon RDS for SQL Server
The AF SQL scripts feature installs the AF SQL scripts used to create the AF SQL Server database.
Note: Optionally, you can also install PI SQL Data Access Server (RTQP Engine) on the PI AF server to provide back-end support for PI SQL Client OLEDB, ODBC and JDBC drivers. The install kit for PI SQL Data Access Server (RTQP Engine) is available as a separate download. See PI SQL Data Access Server (RTQP Engine) 2023 SP1 and Run the PI SQL DAS (RTQP Engine) setup kit for more information. PI RTQP Engine is not supported if you use one of the cloud database platforms to host the PI AF database.
