Verify Data Archive licensing

Use the Licensing tool to verify that your Data Archive license is activated.

Click Start > All Programs > PI System > PI System Management Tools.

  1. In the System Management Tools pane, select Operation > Licensing.

The Licensing manager displays license activation information for the selected Data Archive server.

  2. Click General to expand it. The Exp Time entry indicates when your license activation expires.

  3. Click Usage to expand it.

The Current PctMatch shows whether the machine characteristics match what has been coded into the Data Archive license file according to the MSF that was loaded to MLA.

If this is a standalone Data Archive server or a primary Data Archive server, the Current PctMatch should be 100%. If not, use pidiag to generate a new MSF and regenerate a license file.

If this is a secondary machine, the Current PctMatch can be disregarded because the secondary will operate as long as the primary's current percent match is above the required threshold (visible from General > PctMatch).

  4. Verify the number of points permitted with your license activation.

    1. Click the drop-down box in SMT, located next to the Refresh button.

    2. Select Count.

Your point count will be the lesser of pibasess.MaxAggregatePointModuleCount or pibasess.maxpointcount.

In general, older PI Systems will store the permitted point count under pibasess.MaxAggregatePointModultCount whereas newer systems will store the value under pibasess.maxpointcount.

  5. Click Resources.

  6. Expand the pibasess.MaxAggregatePointModuleCount entry to verify the number of points permitted with your license activation.
