Configure background jobs

To review or edit one of the SQL Server maintenance jobs:

Open SQL Server Management Studio.
The SQL Server Management Studio window appears.

Expand SQL Server Agent.

Expand the Jobs folder under SQL Server Agent.

Double click on the job to review or edit.
The Job Properties dialog displays.

Execute one of the following tasks within the dialog:

Enable/disable the job

Edit the existing job steps
-
Add new steps
-
Remove steps
-
Modify the schedule used for the job

Define the Alerts associated with the job
-
Define the actions to occur when the job completes, including Notifications

Edit a step by selecting the Step page.
The Step page appears.

Select or double click on the step and click Edit.
The Job Step Properties dialog appears.

Configure the desired properties to determine how the individual step will run.

Click OK in any of these dialogs saves the changes and closes the dialog.
