Learn about products that connect to an application server

Certain PI client applications require a connection to a separate application server in addition to a Data Archive server. Examples include PI DataLink Enterprise Server (PI DLES) and PI WebParts. These types of applications require additional configuration steps if you want to use Windows Integrated security (WIS) or OpenID Connect (OIDC).

Note: If you do not reconfigure security and connection settings to use the WIS or OIDC, you see no change in your application servers. Upgrading to the latest version of Data Archive does not require that you implement WIS or OIDC.
