Install PI AF server components separately

Follow the instructions in this section to first install the cloud PI AF database or on-premises SQL Server database and then install the PI AF application service.

Some organizations may not want to use an install kit to deploy the PI AF SQL Server database. For an alternative procedure, you can download, unzip, and execute SQL scripts to set up the PI AF SQL Server database without running the installer program. See Manual creation of the PI AF SQL Server database.

Note: Installing the cloud PI AF SQL database or on-premises SQL Server database and PI AF application service separately causes your PI AF deployment to take longer than if you install those features at the same time. PI AF clients cannot reconnect to a PI AF server until the PI AF Azure SQL Database or SQL Server database and PI AF application service are running the same version.
