AVEVA™ PI Server Installation and Configuration (PI Server 2024 R2)

Configure the AVEVA Identity Manager

  • Last UpdatedNov 21, 2025
  • 1 minute read

Note: AVEVA PI Server 2024 does not make use of the AVEVA Identity Manager's Redundant SSO Server functionality.

After installing PCS for the PI System, you need to use the Configurator utility to specify the machine used to host the AVEVA Identity Manager and create a certificate.

Important: There should only be one AVEVA Identity Manager on the network.

  1. Select the Windows Start button, select AVEVA from the program menu, then select Configurator.

    The Configurator utility opens.

  2. In the Configurator utility, select This machine is the System Management Server, then select Configure.

The designated web server is configured to use the AVEVA Identity Manager as the identity service and an AIM certificate is created.

Note: System Management Server is synonymous with the AVEVA Identity Manager in the Configurator utility.

  3. When prompted, enter the user account credentials that you added to the aaAdministrators group earlier.

  4. Confirm that the AVEVA Identity Manager is configured and registered by navigating to the AVEVA Identity Manager landing page (https://<machine-name>/identitymanager).

Access to this landing page confirms that the AVEVA Identity Manager is configured locally.
