Pre-installation tasks for AF Server

This section includes tasks that must be completed before an AF Server installation. Pre-installation tasks differ depending on which of the following database management tools you have selected:

• Microsoft Azure SQL Database (cloud)

• Microsoft Azure SQL Managed Instance (cloud)

• Amazon RDS for SQL Server (cloud)

• SQL Server (on-premises)

Prerequisite tasks for AF Server

Perform these steps before you begin:

1. Review the System requirements for PI AF Server 2024.

2. Log on to your Windows system using an account with administrator privileges.

3. See PI AF security for general recommendations and best practices for AF SQL database implementation.

4. Review one of the following topics to learn about the roles and permissions required at AF Server installation and for PI AF database creation:

   • For SQL Server, review SQL Server roles and permissions for PI AF.
