AVEVA™ PI Server Installation and Configuration (PI Server 2024 R2)

Register and unregister PI Server components

You can register and unregister PI Server components with the AVEVA Identity Manager server using the OIDC Configuration tool.

  1. As an administrator, open a Windows command prompt and change directory to \PI\adm or \PIPC\AF.

  2. To register Asset Framework (AF), Data Archive or PI Notifications with the AIM server:

    • Aveva.PI.OIDCConfigurationTool.exe /RIS:https://my-aimserver /AFSERVER /PIDATAARCHIVE /PINOTIFICATIONS

  3. To unregister all previously registered components with the AIM server:

    • Aveva.PI.OIDCConfigurationTool.exe /UNREGISTER

  4. To unregister AF Server with the AIM server:

    • Aveva.PI.OIDCConfigurationTool.exe /UNREGISTER /AFSERVER

  5. Parameters to register with the AIM Server:

    • /RIS URL to AIM server endpoint (required for silent registration)
      Usage: /RIS:https://my-aimserver

    • /AFSERVER: Registers local AF with AIM server.
      Usage: Aveva.PI.OIDCConfigurationTool.exe /AFSERVER

    • /PIDATAARCHIVE: Registers local Data Archive with AIM server.
      Usage: Aveva.PI.OIDCConfigurationTool.exe /PIDATAARCHIVE

    • /PINOTIFICATIONS: Registers local PI Notifications service with AIM server.
      Usage: Aveva.PI.OIDCConfigurationTool.exe /PINOTIFICATIONS

  6. Parameters to unregister with the AIM Server:

    • /AFSERVER: Unregister only the local AF from the AIM server.
      Usage: Aveva.PI.OIDCConfigurationTool.exe /UNREGISTER /AFSERVER

    • /PIDATAARCHIVE: Unregister only Data Archive from the AIM server.
      Usage: Aveva.PI.OIDCConfigurationTool.exe /UNREGISTER /PIDATAARCHIVE

    • /PINOTIFICATIONS: Unregister only PI Notifications service from the AIM server.
      Usage: Aveva.PI.OIDCConfigurationTool.exe /UNREGISTER /PINOTIFICATIONS

  7. Parameters to enable silent mode install:

    • /Q

  8. Parameter to display connections and registration statuses:

    • /DIAGNOSTICS
