Custom certificate renewal (without PCS)

Custom certificate management offers control over renewals, requiring regular monitoring. This choice is better suited for organizations that require strict certificate control and prefer not to automate through PCS.

Starting with AVEVA PI Server 2024, all certificate-owning PI System services (Data Archive, AF Server, PI Notifications, and PI Analysis Service) can detect Renew certificate events and automatically apply those certificates. Data Archive does not require a restart in this scenario, but all other PI Server components need to be restarted. In addition to Renew certificate events, Data Archive will also detect Replace and ManualReplace events.
