Software requirements

The following AVEVA software is required for using MES model-driven application content.

Note: Work Tasks Connector and Extension for MES is no longer required except for certain circumstances. For more information, see Work Tasks Extension and Connector for MES installation.

Platform Common Services (PCS) Framework

PCS Framework is required as it includes the service that provides users with access tokens for MES.

Unless it's already installed, PCS can be installed as part of installing the following products:

• With MES, by selecting the MES Middleware, MES Proxy, or MES Web Portal component for installation. Selecting any of these components will force the AVEVA Single Sign‑On Service>PCS - Runtime component to be selected for installation.

• With Work Tasks, PCS will be installed as prerequisite software.

• With System Platform, by selecting the Galaxy Repository component for installation.

The PCS service that provides access tokens is also referred to as AVEVA Identity Manager (AIM), which is the name used throughout this document.

Note: PCS versions that were included in AVEVA product releases prior to the 2023 R2 release (i.e., prior to AVEVA Platform Common Services version 8.x) will not be compatible.

AVEVA Enterprise License Server and License Manager

The AVEVA Enterprise License Server and License Manager are required to implement the proper product licenses.

Unless it's already installed, License Server and License Manager can be installed as part of installing the following products:

• With MES, by selecting the AVEVA License Server and License Manager components for installation.

• With Work Tasks installation, the License Server and Manager will be installed as prerequisite software.

• With System Platform, by selecting the Application Server component, InTouch component, or any role that includes the Galaxy Repository for installation.

Work Tasks

Work Tasks 2023 R2 is required.

Work Tasks 2023 R2 HF4 is required.

MES

MES 2023 R2 (version 23.1) is required.

Note: MES model-driven application content supports only OS Group and OS User MES users, but not native MES users.

BI Gateway

If BI Gateway is being installed to provide MES reporting, BI Gateway 2021 SP 1 is required.

A non-licensed limited version is included with the MES license. The full version is optional.

System Platform

For solutions using automated data and event capture, 2023 R2 SP1 (Patch 3 or Patch 4) [which includes Application Server, Operations Management Interface (OMI), Historian] is required.

If your implementation requires any of the following actions, then the latest update to Work Tasks Connector and Extension for System Platform 2023 R2 SP1 (Patch 3 or Patch 4) is required:

• Hosting Work Tasks forms in OMI apps

• Triggering Work Tasks workflows from System Platform

• Writing Work Tasks variables to System Platform

This connector and extension is included with the Work Tasks 2023 R2 installation software

Operating system, SQL Server, and web browser compatibility

For a particular node when implementing MES model-driven application content, the Windows operating system version, SQL Server version, and web browser must be compatible with all of the AVEVA products that are being installed on the node.

The recommended configuration is:

• For servers: Windows Server 2019, 2022, or 2025

• For clients: Windows 11

• SQL Server: 2019, 2022, or 2025

For the web browser, the latest available version of Chrome is recommended.

Non-windows device compatibility

MES model-driven application content has been optimized for web browsers on Windows devices. MES model-driven application content has been successfully tested on the following mobile operating systems:

• Minimum Android supported version: 11

• Verified Android versions: 11, 12, 14

• Minimum iOS supported version: 16.x

• Verified iOS versions: 16.x, 18.x

Best results were found with Chrome in landscape mode (if the tablet device is used in portrait mode, you might experience limitations in the display of the forms).
