If a default lot number is not set for a consumed item, then the default lot number that is set for the associated produced item will be used for the consumed item. This assumes that a default lot number has been set for the produced item.

However, if you want to use a separate lot number for the consumed item, say for back flush consumption, then you need to set a default lot number for the consumed item.
